Anna–Marie Laura is the Senior Manager of Policy Engagement at Rare, an international conservation organization that empowers local communities to become stewards of their natural resources so that both people and nature thrive. She previously worked as Ocean and Coastal Policy Advisor for Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI).
Anna–Marie transitioned to full time staff for the Senator after serving as a Knauss Marine Policy Fellow in 2010. Anna–Marie earned a B.S. in Marine Science from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Environmental Management (MEM) from Duke’s Nicholas School of the Environment. She also serves on Board of Directors for Ocean Champions, a national organization focused solely on developing a broad, bipartisan base of supporters for ocean conservation in the U.S. Congress and in key states. Anna–Marie is an avid SCUBA diver and enjoys getting outdoors as much as possible.
