HUMNA SHARIF

Humna is the Climate Adaptation Manager for the Nature Conservancy’s Maryland and DC chapter. She holds a master of environmental management degree from the Yale School of Environment, and a bachelors in environmental sciences and environmental thought and practice from the University of Virginia. Humna’s professional and academic experience has been focused on advancing climate adaptation and mitigation solutions with a particular focus on coastal and marine nature-based strategies that sequester carbon, enhance ecosystem resilience, and protect biodiversity.

In her previous role, Humna worked as the Government Relations Manager at the National Ocean Protection Coalition. She worked closely with national and local partners to advocate for the creation, expansion, and strong management of marine protected areas in the US.

Humna is passionate about centering environmental justice in all her work. She is always looking for ways to create pathways for historically under-represented communities and environmental professionals to have a seat at the decision-making table.  In her free time, Humna likes to draw and paint nature inspired patterns, cook for friends and family, and loves to explore local hiking/biking trails.
