ELYIA BARON LOPEZ

Eliya Baron Lopez is a paralegal at Oceana. She is originally from San Francisco and Monterey, CA, where she grew up visiting and volunteering at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, a place that first sparked her passion for ocean conservation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Policy from the University of California, San Diego, and a master’s degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island. Before moving to Washington DC, Eliya completed a Fulbright at the Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology in Busan, South Korea, researching South Korea’s marine litter management policies. Prior to joining Oceana, she worked as a paralegal with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Environmental & Natural Resources Division and supported trial teams on cases related to offshore wind, environmental disasters, and submerged lands. In her free time, Eliya enjoys watching Korean dramas, cooking with friends, and going on urban hikes.
