hannah staley

Originally from Indiana, Hannah moved to Washington, DC to begin her career at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as a 2023 Knauss Marine Policy Fellow from the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant. She currently serves as a Budget Formulation Analyst with NOAA’s Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO), ensuring critical operational capabilities are strategically funded to advance NOAA’s science and service missions.

Across her career, Hannah has remained focused on strengthening the connection between science and policy to advance the resilience of our oceans, coasts, communities, and climate. She holds a Master of Public Affairs and Master of Science in Environmental Science from Indiana University, with a concentration in Environmental Policy and Natural Resource Management. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science, with minors in Environmental Science and Political Science, from Coastal Carolina University.

When spotted outside of work and WAN, you will likely find her reading, exploring new places, bopping over to a coffee shop or market, or starting a new craft (all with a good chance that she’s listening to Taylor Swift).
